Yesterday was Dia de Los Muertes, one of the coolest holidays and a special day for remembering friends and loved ones who have passed. Old Town in San Diego has a ton of live altars (or orfrendas) where you can participate and light candles, write names and messages on popsicle sticks and add your own flair to the large altars scattered throughout the community. This is definitely the only place I’ve ever been to that makes a pretty big event out of the day - and I imagine that certain communities in nearby Mexico have similar activities. The candlelight procession to El Campo State Cemetery is something that should not be missed and only happens once a year. Here are some of my photos from the day…
